D.I.Y. Erasers - How to Make Your Own Erasers At Home

D.I.Y. Erasers:   ✏️

During Covid-19 everyone is stuck bored at home, looking for things to do.  So in this post, I am going to be sharing an easy D.I.Y. with you.  Learn how to make original erasers in no time!

All you need to make an eraser is a glue gun, glue sticks, and a mold or tin foil.  I don't have a mold, so I used tinfoil.  On a side note to tin foil, make sure to check out one of my oldest post, Tin Foil Trick.

If you are using a mold, then just plug in the glue gun and put the hot glue into the mold.  Wait for it to dry, then take it out and you have an eraser.  But if you don't have a mold or you just want to use tin foil, then keep on reading, because I have some tips and tricks for you.

If you are using tin foil:

Lay out a piece of tin foil on the table or where ever you're crafting.

Plug in your glue gun, and wait for it to heat up.  If you're a child, make sure to get parental supervision during this D.I.Y..  I used clear glue, but you can use coloured hot glue if you like.

Draw the outline to your shape with hot glue on the tin foil.  It's okay if you get some hot glue in the middle, because you have to fill in that part too.

Before the outline dries, fill it in with the hot glue.  Now just wait for it to dry.  And don't worry, the bubbles will pop when it dries.

I also made a cat's head so I could show you some more tricks and tips.  If you want to make something with eyes or add ons, you'll need to make a base and let it dry first.

After your base dries, draw the add ons on another spot on the tin foil.

Once they dry, take them off of the tin foil and hot glue them onto the base.

Instead of doing the step above for add ons, you could simpling draw the add on right onto the base with the hot glue.

Once everything dries, it's time to take it off.  But you can't just stop reading now, because most of the time taking it off isn't that simple.

Sometimes you will be able to peel the eraser off by put your finger under the tin foil and peeling, but sometimes that won't work.  What you'll need to do is rip the tin foil around the eraser into a separate piece like shown above.

Next, flip it over and peel the tin foil off by chunks or bits.

Use scissors to cut off strings of glue of unwanted pieces or edges.

Ta da!  You have made you're own eraser!  Bravo!  See how simple that was?  And it took no time at all.
